Rays in the Form of Space, 2026
Seattle, Washington
Edward Shuster and Claudia Moseley are pleased to present Rays in the Form of Space (2026), a new site specific public sculpture commissioned for Seattle. The work marks a significant addition to the artists’ ongoing exploration of light as both a physical phenomenon and a medium through which to investigate perception, consciousness, and humanity’s relationship to the cosmos.
Known internationally for their immersive installations and sculptural environments, Shuster + Moseley create works that operate at the intersection of art, science, and philosophy. Drawing upon research in optics, neuroscience, cosmology, and architecture, their practice examines how light shapes our experience of time and space while revealing dimensions of reality that often remain unseen.
For Rays in the Form of Space, the artists have conceived a monumental sculptural intervention that transforms the surrounding environment through reflection, refraction, and changing atmospheric conditions. Throughout the day, the work responds to shifting patterns of sunlight, generating a dynamic visual experience that evolves with the movement of the viewer and the passage of time. Rather than functioning as a fixed object, the sculpture acts as an instrument for perception, inviting the public to engage with the invisible structures that connect light, landscape, and human presence.
Installed within the public realm, the sculpture offers an open invitation for visitors to experience a moment of wonder and attentiveness, transforming everyday encounters with the city into opportunities for contemplation. With Rays in the Form of Space, Shuster + Moseley reaffirm their commitment to creating works that bridge material reality and poetic possibility, positioning light not merely as illumination, but as a language through which we can better understand ourselves and the world around us.
